# FAQ | Kratos Surgery

## For Patients

### Does the 3D facial scan require special equipment?
No special equipment is required. The Kratos Surgery app uses your own iOS or Android smartphone to generate a clinical-grade 3D mesh. The scanning process takes exactly 20 seconds.

### Is my biometric data safe and KVKK compliant?
Yes. Your 3D facial model is personal biometric data. Kratos is fully compliant with KVKK (Turkey) and GDPR (EU). Your data is never shared with third parties, cannot be downloaded as raw files, and is securely transmitted only to your chosen surgeon.

### How long does it take to see my 3D model?
After completing the 20-second smartphone scan, the cloud-based AI processes the data and generates a high-resolution 3D model in approximately 10 minutes.

### Can any doctor use the Kratos 3D system?
Kratos 3D software is restricted to verified medical professionals. Your surgeon must register with Kratos to receive a 6-digit DR code, which you will use to securely share your scan.

### Is the Kratos Surgery mobile app free for patients?
Yes. The Kratos Surgery mobile application is 100% free to download and use for all patients. There are no hidden fees or subscriptions required to create your 3D scan.

### Why should I demand a 3D simulation before my surgery?
A 3D simulation eliminates the uncertainty of facial surgery. Instead of relying on imagination or 2D photos, you can see your expected postoperative outcome on a true 3D model of your own face, ensuring you and your surgeon share the exact same vision.

### Can 3D planning prevent unexpected surgical results?
Yes. Because the Kratos 3D Facial Metric Engine relies on millimetric data rather than subjective guessing, your surgeon can plan exact resections. This standardized approach significantly minimizes the risk of unexpected aesthetic surprises after surgery.

### How do millimetric metrics protect me during the actual surgery?
During the procedure, your surgeon does not rely on memory or visual estimates. Kratos provides them with an exact mathematical guide—specific angles and millimetric distances—calculated before the surgery. Having this concrete data in the operating room drastically reduces the chance of human error and ensures the physical execution perfectly matches the digital plan.

### What happens if I make a mistake during the 3D face scan?
The Kratos Surgery app features real-time AI guidance. If you move too fast or the lighting is poor, the app will instantly warn you and guide you to correct it, ensuring your scan is always clinical-grade.

### Is my smartphone camera good enough for clinical 3D modeling?
Yes. Our advanced cloud AI algorithms enhance standard smartphone camera data, extracting depth and geometry to create high-resolution meshes that rival $50,000 clinic scanners.

### Can I see the 3D simulation before committing to the surgery?
Absolutely. The main advantage of Kratos 3D is allowing you to view and discuss your exact post-operative simulation with your doctor during the consultation phase, before making any surgical commitments.

### How long does the surgeon keep my 3D scan data?
You have full control over your data. Your surgeon has access to the scan for planning purposes, but you can revoke access or permanently delete your 3D model at any time through the patient app under GDPR/KVKK rights.

### What's the difference between 2D and 3D surgery simulation?
A 2D simulation warps a single flat photo, which cannot show how a change looks from the side or at an angle and often distorts under lighting or head-tilt differences. A 3D simulation like Kratos 3D builds a full rotatable model of the face from a real scan, so the surgeon and patient can view the planned result from any angle, in accurate proportions, before surgery.

### Which smartphones can I use for the Kratos 3D facial scan?
Kratos 3D uses the Kratos Surgery app on a standard iPhone or Android smartphone to capture the scan in about 20 seconds. No external 3D camera, sensor rig, or other extra hardware is required.

### Can I view my doctor's simulation result on my own phone for free?
Yes. Once your doctor completes the 3D simulation on their end, you can view the result directly on your own smartphone through the Kratos Surgery app at no cost.

### Does Kratos 3D ask for my consent before collecting my facial scan data?
Yes. Before any scan is taken, patients are shown a clear KVKK/GDPR consent and disclosure text and must actively approve it before their biometric data is captured or processed.

## For Doctors

### What is the hardware cost for the Kratos 3D system?
The hardware cost is zero. Kratos eliminates the need for $20,000 to $50,000 in-clinic hardware scanners. Patients scan their faces at home using their own smartphones before the consultation.

### How accurate is the 3D mesh compared to hardware scanners?
Independent academic studies, including a 33-subject clinical validation at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, confirm that Kratos smartphone-generated 3D meshes match the high-fidelity accuracy of existing clinical gold standard hardware.

### Does Kratos provide subcutaneous anatomical data?
Yes. The Kratos Anatomy module uses proprietary AI to estimate underlying cartilage and bone structures beneath the skin surface, enabling millimetric precision for surgical resection planning.

### Who is legally responsible for KVKK and GDPR data compliance?
Kratos 3D Technologies assumes the technical and administrative responsibility for securing patient biometric data under KVKK and GDPR frameworks. This relieves surgeons from the legal burden of raw data management.

### What are the system requirements for the Kratos Desktop Software?
The Kratos 3D Facial Metric Engine is natively supported on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon M-series) and Windows operating systems. It does not require high-end gaming hardware or specialized IT infrastructure.

### How long does the patient onboarding and scanning process take?
The entire scanning process is completely patient-led and takes exactly 20 seconds. Patients scan their faces at home using the free iOS or Android app before arriving at your clinic, saving you valuable consultation time.

### Does the Kratos software calculate specific facial angles automatically?
Yes. The Kratos 3D Facial Metric Engine automatically calculates standard surgical parameters, including the Naso-Frontal Angle, Naso-Labial Angle, and Ricketts E-Line, providing instant, millimetric measurements for objective surgical planning.

### How does 3D simulation improve patient conversion rates?
Providing a clear, objective 3D visual outcome eliminates patient anxiety and aligns expectations. Clinics utilizing Kratos 3D report significantly higher patient conversion rates and reduced post-operative dissatisfaction because the patient actively participates in the planning process.

### Does Kratos 3D support jaw surgery and orthognathic planning?
Yes. Beyond rhinoplasty, Kratos 3D supports surgical planning for jaw surgery (maxillofacial/orthognathic procedures), otoplasty, facelift, eyebrow lift, and lip aesthetics, using the same millimetric facial metric analysis and AI-generated subcutaneous anatomy.

### Is Kratos 3D used outside Turkey?
Yes. Kratos 3D is used internationally by surgeons across multiple countries, alongside its home base at ITU Ari Teknokent in Istanbul. Current surgeon partners span Turkey, Germany, Spain, Egypt, Poland, Brazil, and other countries.

### How is Kratos 3D priced for clinics?
Kratos 3D is offered to clinics on an annual subscription basis. Pricing varies depending on which modules the clinic selects (for example facial analysis, rhinoplasty planning, or jaw surgery planning).

### Is patient data hosted on the cloud or on-premises?
By default, Kratos 3D runs as a fully managed cloud service, with the full KVKK/GDPR consent and disclosure process built in. For enterprise clinic customers, an on-premises (self-hosted, own-server) deployment is also available.
